En sann berättelse om familjen Kleinmanns öde under andra världskriget. Vi får främst följa far och son Kleinmann och deras tid i koncentrationslägren. En väldigt gripande bok om de hemskheter som pågick då, men samtidigt en så fin berättelse om bland annat kärlek, lojalitet och hopp. Författaren har dessutom lagt ner stort arbete på att få allt historiskt korrekt, vilket märks på den gedigna fotnotslistan som man kan följa under bokens gång om man är intresserad.
