Revolution and Counter-Revolution in France : 1815 - 1852

Bok av William Fortescue
The first half of the 19th century in France was marked by political change and reaction. The book examines this dramatic period of revolution and counter-revolution, from the end of the Napoleonic rule and the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy in 1815 to the proclamation of the Second Republic and the rise of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. The author sets this account of political developments against the background of the dominant revolutionary, republican and Napoleonic traditions. He concludes by asking to what extent the establishment of the Second Empire reversed the events of 1815.
