En författare som har blivit en favorit genom åren är Louise Penny. Hon är kanadensiska och skriver böcker med kommissarie Gamache i huvudrollen och den lilla byn Three Pines som miljö. Många skulle nog klassa hennes böcker som mysdeckare, lite i stil med Agatha Christie. Jag tycker att de på sätt och vis är mysiga, men de har en sorts torr humor och snudd på sarkasm som Agatha Christies böcker inte har. Ett ohyggligt avslöjande är den femte boken i serien.

På bistron i den lilla byn hittas ett lik. Det är en äldre man som ingen känner igen. Han är helt klart mördad. Kommissarie Gamache tillkallas och försöker inte bara hitta mördaren och motivet utan mannens identitet. Det visar sig att inte bara en person i Three Pines ljuger utan flera. Ett HBTQ-tema går igenom hela serien, för övrigt. I den här delen är det mer centralt än tidigare.

Jag tycker att författaren mer och mer hittar sin unika stil och skriver allt bättre böcker. Just den här boken har flera bottnar och teman, bland annat lojalitet. Mot slutet blir det lite segt. Totalt sett får boken ändå ett högt omdöme.
