Mistborn

Mistborn: A Secret History

The final empire
Bok av Brandon Sanderson
Mistborn: Secret History is a companion story to the original Mistborn trilogy. As such, it contains HUGE SPOILERS for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension, and The Hero of Ages. It also contains very minor spoilers for the book The Bands of Mourning. Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterization, events, and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Reading it without that background will be a confusing process at best. In short, this isn't the place to start your journey into Mistborn (though if you have read the trilogy - but it has been a while - you should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books). Saying anything more here risks revealing too much. Even knowledge of this story's existence is, in a way, a spoiler. There's always another secret.

I feel like I'm the last person on earth to finally have finished this book. I somehow wonder between a rating of 3 stars or 4 stars, but I feel that 4 stars justify the outstanding world building and the complexity in the magic system. Though, my largest issue throughout the book was that I was sometimes really pissed over that all the important people within the crew were all men, except from Vin. And sure, it's pretty typical in epic high fantasy stories that there isn't a large amount of female protagonists, but I just wished that Sanderson has gotten there. And about the characters as well, the ones I feel like I have really truly started to know good are Vin, Kelsier and Sazed, the other characters somewhat mixed in together and I at some points mixed Ham and Breeze together and had a problem with understanding who was who. Otherwise, I really liked how this book progressed and I'm looking forward to continue with the series and start to explore this epic world of Cosmere that Sanderson has start to build up.
