Alice Peasbody was born with no nose. People laugh and jeer at Alice and call her 'Pancake Face'. Even when she is given a prosthetic nose and gains the courage to move to the big city and take an office job, she cowers in dark corners. The only place she feels she can truly be herself is the roof garden of the office block. But one day a handsome and good-natured man comes to work in Alice's office, and she finds herself drawn out of the dark corners.
Jag gillar boken! Den har en väldigt fin handling och jag gillar att Alice inte bryr sig om vem hon är med utan ser till personen istället för utseende. Jag tycker däremot att språket är lite varierat. Ibland är det svåra ord som inte är förklarade medans ett väldigt lätt ord är förklarat. Dessutom är känns det som språket är för lite yngre än nio år. Men det kanske kan bero på att den är lättläst. Jag gillar verkligen handlingen och de få illustrationerna är verkligen fina. Men jag gillar inte språket så mycket, tyvärr.
