The Jane Austen society utspelar sig direkt efter andra världskriget i lilla Chawton där Jane Austen en gång bodde en kort tid. Vi får följa en läkare, en skolfröken, en bonde, en filmstjärna och några till. Det de har gemensamt är deras starka kärlek till Jane Austen och hennes böcker och de bildar ett sällskap för att försöka behålla hennes gamla ägodelar i England.

Det är romantiskt, det är sorgligt och det är fina karaktärer med djup som beskrivs. Det är inte helt klart hur det ska gå och alla diskussioner om hennes böcker som karaktärerna håller är väldigt intressanta, speciellt för mig som älskar Austen. När jag läst färdigt boken ville jag direkt sätta mig och läsa om Austens verk - det är ett bra betyg.
