Ett par av hans vänner är dock inte så goda vänner som han tror och de bestämmer sig för att den, i deras ögon, dryge och präktige Ned ska få lära sig en läxa. De stoppar litet cannabis i Neds jackficka och ringer och tipsar polisen.
Under sommarlovet har Ned och en av vännerna varit på seglarskola och när seglarläraren plötsligt blir jättesjuk och håller på att dö får han Ned att lova att överlämna ett brev. Olyckligtvis finns detta brev också i Neds jacka när polisen tar fast honom.
Brevet gör att både IRA och underrättelsetjänsten blir inkopplade och Ned hamnar isolerad på ett mentalsjukhus på en ö i Sverige. Han har träffar på skotske Babe som lär honom både ett och annat och har gott om tid att planera Neds flykt och hämnd .
Det är skrämmande, våldsamt och samtidigt humoristiskt och jag läste någonstans att boken har kallats en modern Greven av Monte Cristo. Lättläst och underhållande.
